Active Citizenship Network calls for endorsement of the "Recommendations on Covid-19 Patient Pathways", drafted together with experts and PAGs coordinated by RPP Group, and drafted in coherence with Active Citizenship Network engagement in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, and with new recent initiatives started at the EU level titled “Protecting the value of access to care during - and after - the COVID-19 pandemic across Europe: focus on antivirals” and “Improving health literacy for better public and patient involvement in COVID-19 pandemic mitigation”.
Informally, the Recommendations have been recently discussed in Brussels in May, here more details, with some EU umbrella organizations, while the official presentation at the EU level expected to take place in the EU Parliament by the end of 2023.
The Be AWARE initiative promoted by Cittadinanzattiva aims to promote information and raise awareness among the general population about the still existing risks for people with frailty or specific conditions to develop severe forms of COVID-19.
It is important to let people know which conditions and diseases are most at risk of developing severe forms of COVID-19, what to do when the first symptoms appear and how to access treatment for this disease. Among the effects the disease can leave behind is 'Long COVID'. It is essential to pay attention to the 'warning signs' and seek immediate medical advice.
Interested in Personalized Prevention? In the framework of the Horizon Europe project "PROPHET" aimed at developing a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for the implementation of Personalised Prevention approaches, Active Citizenship Network thinks you would be a fantastic member of our expert Stakeholder Forum and we would like to invite you to become part of it. This PROPHET Forum is the structure through which PROPHET engages with external stakeholders and collects their input on main project outcomes, namely the SRIA which will get European-wide visibility. As a first consultation step, we would also like to invite you to participate in an online survey that will aim to map the barriers, challenges, and enablers for adopting personalised preventive approaches in Health systems in Europe. Please take a look at the additional information here and join us!
In the framework of the EU project “AMR Patient Alliance – developing educational repository for patient and caregiver awareness of drug resistant infections”, Active Citizenship Network contributed to the Italian translation of the English course “Antimicrobial Resistance: Patient Role in Rational Use” developed by IAPO P4PS Observatory and the Patient Academy for Innovation and Research (PAIR Academy).
The course explains in a simple but detailed way what AMR is, how and when to use antibiotics, how and when to communicate one's needs to the doctor, and what we as citizens but also as civic and patient organizations can do to counter antimicrobial resistance. The aim was to contribute to its translation in order to make it open and accessible to all, for both informational and awareness-raising purposes.
Interested in Personalized Prevention? Collaborate with us in the Horizon Europe project "PROPHET" (Personalised Prevention Roadmap for the Future Healthcare), aimed at developing a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for the implementation of Personalised Prevention approaches.
Every year 900,000 people die prematurely in the European Union (EU) due to disease risk factors that can be prevented through a shift from the treatment of established diseases to a “person-centered” disease prevention and early diagnosis practice. Scientific advances in the last decades enabled the identification of novel biomarkers that, together with other clinical and lifestyle personal information, enable tailoring preventive measures to improve individual health and/or avoiding diseases. Although prevention is nowadays a high priority at EU level, personalised preventive strategies are not as widely used as other personalised medicine approaches.
Personalised prevention strategies are only possible if citizens, health professionals, researchers and policy makers are all aware of their potential and have the knowledge and resources to design and implement them.
ACN think you would make a fantastic member of our expert Stakeholder Forum and we would like to invite you to become part of it. This PROPHET Forum is the structure through which PROPHET engages with external stakeholders and collects their input on main project outcomes, namely the SRIA which will get European-wide visibility. Please take just 1 minute to complete this form to confirm your participation – it includes the Terms of Reference.
As a first consultation step, we would also like to invite you to participate in an online survey that will aim to map the barriers, challenges, and enablers for adopting personalised preventive approaches in Health systems in Europe. Answering the survey will take approximately 15minutes. If you cannot complete the whole survey at once, you can save and return at a later moment. You can access the survey HERE The results of the survey will therefore contribute to the development of a Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for personalised prevention.
Thank you for your collaboration.

The 8 June 2023 from 17:30 - 19:00 CET has been heald an online training seminar realized in the framework of the project "Improving health literacy for better public and patient involvement in mitigating COVID-19 pandemic using interactive and intuitive educational tools"
The aim of the training was to illustrate, through a scientific approach, the current situation in Italy - also in light of the recent WHO declaration that Covid-19 no longer constitutes a public health emergency of international concern - and to understand what is the correct information to know for frail patients, the elderly and/or those with particular pathologies, for whom Covid-19 and Long Covid may still represent a threat.
During the meeting these issues have been explored in depth, with the help of medical experts, and ample space has been left for the doubts and questions of those who wonder about the most useful practices to adopt and the prevention, treatment and protection strategies available today.
The first online focus group, in the framework of the Civil Society promoting vaccination across the life-course project, will be held in Spanish the 26 of September 2023, organized by La Asociación Española contra la Meningitis to discuss the importance of life course vaccination, including Covid-19 lessons learned, barriers to vaccine access, options of diverse vaccine choices, and the possible change of the annual vaccination schedule.
Output: the output of the webinar will be a public report containing the key insights and recommendations gained from the meeting.
In the framework of the EU project “AMR Patient Alliance – developing educational repository for patient and caregiver awareness of drug resistant infections” promoted by IAPO P4PS Observatory and in which Cittadinanzattiva, through its European branch Active Citizenship Network (ACN), has become involved, together with IAPO and the Spanish association ALCER, Active Citizenship Network developed an Italian repository of documents on the issue of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
