The ENGAGE - Engage Society for Risk Awareness and Resilience project, funded under the European Research and Innovation Program Horizon 2020 and coordinated by the Norwegian research institute SINTEF, addresses research and innovation on resilience as an intrinsic capacity of an organization to adjust its operations during adverse events of change and actively support operations before, during and after disasters.
Natural and man-made disasters remind us that the ability of societies to adapt and thrive depends on collective action. Current knowledge, strategies and methods for governanceof social risks are largely focused on the efforts of public authorities to protect citizens from harm and ensure continuity in vital social functions.

Food safety is a top priority for the European Commission. The central goal is to assure a high level of protection of human health through safe products by the food industry -Europe’s largest manufacturing and employment sector. The EU-funded FOODSAFETY4EU project will design, develop and release a multi-stakeholder platform for the future European Food Safety System (FSS). The platform aims at establishing a network of FSS actors at the national, European and international level. It will enable them to access resources and data efficiently, synchronise food safety research strategies, share and exchange scientific knowledge and contribute to transparent communication regarding the FSS. The FOODSAFETY4EU platform will maximise cooperation within the system and with the civil society boosting the co-creation of strategies and their translation into policies and funding programmes.

Preamble
The European Pillar of Social Rights has been established on the 17th November 2017 by the Parliament, the Council and the European Commission in Göteborg, Sweden.
Main goals are to inform all citizens about the Pillar, to listen to their worries and opinions, and to increase the active participation and the support for social rights.
The European Pillar of Social Rights is based on 20 key principles that can be divided into 3 categories:
The rights and principles of the Pillar cover a wide range of issues. Following, a brief insight on the prospects for patients suffering from chronic pain. For this document, Active Citizenship Network thanks the communication office of the DG EMPL for the support.
At the European level, the chronic pain has a major impact on workforce participants and productivity and is not adequately acknowledged nor addressed: the European Union Information Agency for Occupational Safety and Health (EU-OSHA) has acknowledged that musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are one of the most common work-related ailments, and can result in high costs for employers. The European Working Conditions Survey (EWCS) conducted a survey in 2017 on job quality in correlation to health and well-being of workers and its impact on absenteeism and presenteeism. It found that MSDs are one of the most common work-related complaints, with 43% reporting backaches, 41% with muscular pains in arms, and 35% reported headache, eyestrain and overall fatigue. It also noted that presenteeism increased costs and was associated with lower productivity. How the European Commission, starting from DG SANTE and DG EMPL, intends to involve the Member States to open a dialogue at national level with all the stakeholders, civic and patient associations, trade unions, business associations, insurance companies, etc, in order to meet the needs of European workers affected by chronic pathology and diseases?
The rights and principles of the Pillar cover a wide range of issues. Following, a brief insight on the prospects of a complete implementation of the Pillar in the post-pandemic era of COVID-19. For this document, Active Citizenship Network thanks the communication office of the DG EMPL for the support.
European citizens, as never before, expect from the European institutions support, closeness, solidarity and concreteness. How are the European institutions acting, and what can we expect in the near future - after the COVID-19 emergency has been overcome - to avoid that the 20 principles that make up the European pillar of social rights remain only statements of principle?
