Agreements to reinforce our policy on the struggle against pain at national and European level

Along 2021, Active Citizenship Network signed new Memorandums of Understanding with the following 4 organizations:

European Munltidisciplinary Network in Pain Research and Education (EMNIPRE), a network of doctors specializing in pain treatment. Among the objectives of the EMNIPRE network there is the commitment to join efforts aimed at providing answers to questions and scientific support to professionals involved in the fight against pain and, furthermore, it aims to become one of the main supports for relatives and patients.

Sociedad Española Multidisciplinar del Dolor (SEMDOR), which is a new scientific society on pain with a multidisciplinary approach in which doctors, pharmacists, psychologists, physiotherapists, nurses and other health specialists interested in pain are integrated to constitute a society in the fight against pain.

Asociación Española de Pacientes Contra el Dolor (APDOL), a non-profit association whose main purposes are to inform and advise the population in general, and specifically to patients and families who suffer from pain, to promote research on pain mechanisms and syndromes, as well as helping to improve the treatment of patients with acute and chronic pain, grouping scientists, doctors and other health professionals from different disciplines and areas, who share an interest in research on pain and its treatment. All this is done in collaboration with administrations (health, education, culture, politics, etc).

Sine Dolore European Pain Foundation is the entity that promotes since many years the “SINE DOLORE WORLD PARK”, the only theme park in the world against pain and quality of life. Sine Dolore is also the co-promoter, together with Active Citizenship Network, of the Pain Euro-Mediterranean Coalition, the agora of operators of good practices on pain, encouraging the exchange of experiences among health professionals, healthcare providers, Institutions, civic associations and Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs).

Excellence in Pediatrics Institute (EIPI),  an association that provides continuing medical education to a global network of over 45,000 child health care professionals. EIPI's purpose is to act as a hub for sharing the latest developments and advice with all stakeholders involved in the care of children and adolescents. The agreement with ACN is also focused on developing a common initiative on pain in pediatrician age.

The Engagementof Cittadinanzattiva in the Fight against Useless Pain

From Italy: Together for the Oncology of the future
In line with the strategies and objectives of the European Union and Europe's Beating Cancer Plan of February 2021, Cittadinanzattiva, with the support of Novartis, on the 28th of January 2021 launched, "Together for the Oncology of the Future”, which put together around a virtual table over 60 Italian realities representing the institutions, universities, research bodies, civil society with a know-how linked both to the clinical-health world and to the fields of economics, sociology, the environment, philosophy, innovation and work. The goal is to outline in a Strategic Document on the future of Oncology, to be delivered to the Institutions, about priorities and policy actions centred on individuals, also in the light of the European Charter of Patients’ Rights that will contribute to changing the approach to oncology by 2030.

Over the past decade, important milestones have been achieved: the number of survivors of cancer has increased and, in many cases, people have returned to the same life expectancy as the general population. We cannot allow to undermine what has been achieved to date.

For this reason, is essential a new approach that requires a more integrated vision of policies that looks to the future: the fight against cancer is not an individual challenge but a challenge for the whole society in which health, social, economic, and environmental policies are closely connected to a very ambitious common goal: to fight cancer or, at least, to make the disease less chronic.

After the first meeting, 4 multistakeholder tables, dedicated to prevention, innovation, equity of care, quality of life, were organized between February and April 2021.

The public presentation of the Strategic Document is expected between October and November 2021.
